Née en 1972 à Belgrade, Sonia Ristić a grandi entre l'ex-Yougoslavie et l'Afrique : elle vit à Paris depuis 1991. Après des études de lettres et de théâtre, elle a travaillé comme comédienne, assistante à la mise en scène et pour des ONG importantes, autour des questions de droits de l'Homme durant les guerres en ex-Yougoslavie, avant de se consacrer à l'écriture. Dans les années 2000, elle a fait partie du collectif du Théâtre de Verre et a créé sa compagnie, Seulement pour les fous. Elle encadre des ateliers d'écriture et de jeu en France et à l'étranger. La plupart de ses pièces sont publiées, crées ou mises en ondes. Elle a reçu plusieurs prix pour ses textes, romans, nouvelles et pièces de théâtre.
