Historienne de l'art, formée à la Sorbonne à Paris, Sophie Ronse ne résiste pas à l'appel de la terre. En 1995, elle a 28 ans quand elle décide d'entreprendre des études de céramiste à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Tournai. Au fil des années, Sophie Ronse trace sa voie. Au fond d'elle-même, la poursuit ce besoin impérieux de traduire ses émotions dans l'argile. De façon patiente et déterminée, elle grave des motifs fins et réguliers sur ses sculptures abstraites.
Son œuvre célèbre la forme spirale, symbole de vie et de mouvement. À deux reprises, en 2003 et 2013, Sophie Ronse a été primée en Italie, à Faenza, le haut lieu de la céramique. Le MIC, Musée International de la Céramique, présente d'ailleurs l'une de ses sculptures parmi celles des plus grands créateurs, venus du monde entier. En mai 2013, Chantal Notté et Mortimer Petre ont suivi l'artiste tournaisienne à Faenza en compangie de son fidèle complice, Gauthier Bourgois. Le tournage s'est prolongé en Belgique, dans son atelier et dans d'autres lieux qui accueillent ses sculptures tel le cimetière d'Antoing.
